چکیده

East African banana ( Musa sp.) breeding efforts have focused mainly on enhancing ‘Matooke’ productivity through the development of high-yielding, pathogen-resistant cultivars with adequate stability to contribute regional food security. Before a program can recommend promising for release, they must pass sensory screens; be evaluated in target population environments; and data analyzed yield, adaptability, stability. Twenty-four primary secondary triploid hybrids [NARITA (N)] derived from bananas, six local cultivars, one exotic cultivar were their across region at three highland sites Uganda’s western central regions, as well Tanzania’s northeastern southern highlands 2016–19. A randomized complete block design four replicates was used multisite trials. The mixed-model restricted maximum likelihood/best linear unbiased prediction approach, along additive main effect multiplicative interaction model biplots, dissect visualize genotype-by-environment patterns. Following likelihood ratio test, both genotype effects highly significant, confirming influence site heterogeneity selecting specific broadly adapted cultivars. N23 had greatest yield all associated adaptability stability, outperforming overall mean genotypes by 34.2%. In Tanzania, N27 (second), N7 (third), N18 (fourth), N4 (fifth), N12 (sixth), N13 (seventh); Uganda, N17 N2 N8 (seventh), (eighth), N24 (ninth) demonstrated good high yield. Furthermore, fungal pathogen Pseudocercospora fijiensis no significant P > 0.05) hybrids. As result, introduced into areas where black leaf streak constrains production significantly threatens farmers’ livelihoods. average potential ranged 9.7 24.3 t⋅ha –1 per year. best discriminating testing clones Lyamungo Tanzania Sendusu Uganda. Hence, these are recommended ideal examples locations superior genotypes.

Grain Yield and Stability of White Early Maize Hybrids in the Highland Valleys of Mexico

There is great interest in Mexico in reducing imports of grain and becoming self-sufficient in cereal production. Identifying high-yielding and stable maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids from different research institutions could contribute to increasing maize production in the highlands of Mexico. In this study, 16 early white maize hybrids were evaluated at 37 highland sites in several Mexican states...

Persistence and Yield Stability of Intersubspecific Alfalfa Hybrids

Long-term persistence and sustained biomass yields of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) stands are important to producers. Yield performance and persistence of intrasubspecific crosses between alfalfa subspecies sativa and falcata after the first post-establishment year are unknown. The objectives of this study were to measure biomass yields, persistence, and biomass yield stability in interand intr...

Application of Principal Coordinates Analysis to Evaluate Yield Stability of Potato Hybrids (Solanum tubersum L.)

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Given the growing rate of population and its consequences, such as hungrier people and more demand for food, the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) has introduced potato (Solanum tubersum L.) as a food security plant. Thus, the need for expanding potato production is globally felt to manage the increase in food demands and food security (4, 1...

Stability Analysis of Genotype × Environment Interaction Effect on Sugar Yield in Sugar Beet Hybrids

Testing plant varieties under different regions is necessary to assess their stability. In this study, 17 sugar beet genotypes were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with six replications in five regions including Karaj, Hamedan, Miandoab, Mashhad, and Shiraz. After checking the homogeneity of mean squares in five experiments by Bartlett’s test, analysis of the combined was per...
